About

My Background

Hi, I'm Julia, and I am excited to see how I can assist you in reaching your educational goals!  I graduated from UCLA in 2019 with a bachelor's in Financial Actuarial Math, and I have been tutoring for the past three years.  Through over 1,000 hours of tutoring, I enjoy helping students identify and improve in areas that will help them increase their understanding and confidence.  My tutoring lessons strongly focus on autonomous student practice to better prepare students for tests and to offer feedback on areas of improvement.   


Whether you are looking to master the current subject you are taking, wishing to brush up on material before your class begins, or would like to advance beyond the current topics you are studying, I would love to help you achieve your academic goals.

I specialize in math tutoring for Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus 1.  Additionally, I provide ESL tutoring and Elementary (K-6) tutoring for reading, writing, phonics and math.

After the 30 minute free assessment, if you are interested in the tutoring services, lessons will be booked in an 8 one-hour lesson package to ensure maximum assistance and academic success.  Lessons will be scheduled through a platform called Teachworks, where you can access the lesson calendar and receive email reminders 24 hours prior to the start of the lesson. 

My lessons focus on notetaking, guided practice and then independent practice.  After the student has taken notes on the topic, we will go through a few example problems together and then they will solve additional problems on their own to solidify their understanding. As per my academic honesty policy and to also provide the student with the best possible help, I will not be providing assistance with any graded assignments, quizzes, tests, or group projects. 

Yes, I offer online tutoring through Zoom for one-on-one lessons.  I utilize an online whiteboard and screen sharing to explain topics and go through example problems.
